Charlie van Staubenzee and his wife Daisy welcomed their first child on 26th February.
Prince Harry and William have enjoyed close friendship with Charlie since childhood, despite their busy lives and Harry’s exit from being senior members of the royal family. So, when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had their first child, they
asked Charlie to be Archie’s godfather.
According to HELLO!, Charlie teased Harry when he was acting as a dorm monitor at their school. “All I wanted was a cuddle from my mummy,” he reportedly said. “Instead Harry nicked my teddy bear and chucked it out onto the roof. Ladies and gentlemen, I ask you, how can you put someone in charge of a dorm when that someone is worse behaved than the whole dorm combined?” Three months later, Harry acted as best man at Charlie’s wedding to Daisy.
The group’s friendship goes back to childhood when William and Harry attended Ludgrove School with Charlie and his older brother Thomas van Straubenzee. Charlie and Thomas were ushers at Harry and Meghan’s royal wedding in May 2018, while Charlie also gave a speech alongside Prince William at the evening reception at Frogmore House.
Prince Harry who had been busy with his final engagements before he and his wife officially steps back from Royal duties at the end of the month is expected to be a godfather to Charlie and Daisy’s first child and daughter, Clover Kitty.
Congratulations to the Duke of Sussex!
