Archie, known for his diverse hobbies such as surfing, dancing, and fruit picking, has recently developed an interest in fishing. In the fifth episode of Meghan’s new Netflix series, the Duchess shared some cherished family moments, including a delightful story about Archie’s summer fishing trip.
While chatting with her close friends Abigail Spencer and Kelly McKee Zajfen, Meghan, 43, described how Archie caught two trout during their fishing outing. She shared the joy of salt baking the fish with her children, expressing her desire for them to create lasting memories in the kitchen with her.
This wholesome pastime harks back to the late Prince Philip, who often enjoyed leisurely days fishing for salmon and trout on the River Dee at Balmoral. His passion for the sport was passed on to King Charles, who taught his sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, how to fish.
In 2020, Charles was said to have extended his stay in Scotland for an additional week due to the exceptional fishing conditions. His love for fishing is evident, as he took over the role of patron of the Salmon and Trout Association from the late Queen Mother. Recently, in November 2023, the King also supported a new initiative from Riverwoods and the Scottish Wildlife Trust aimed at improving the health of Scotland’s rivers and reversing the decline of freshwater species, including wild salmon.
Princess Lilibet also has her moments in the eight-part series. One particularly sweet segment showcases her helping Meghan pick berries for her famous strawberry preserve. In episode five, Meghan mentioned to Abigail and Kelly that Lilibet eagerly participated, insisting, “No, no mama, I’ll do it,” as she wanted to stir and mash the berries herself.
“She’s proud,” Meghan said as a photo of her daughter appeared on screen, showing Lilibet at their expansive family home, adding a ripe strawberry to a basket filled with berries. Although her face was hidden, Lili, as she is affectionately known, could be seen wearing a long-sleeved pink top and a pair of floral leggings.
