A group of fishermen made a shocking discovery when they pulled a dead body from the water while out on a fishing vessel off the coast of Massachusetts.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, March 5, when the crew, struggling with a slow catch, was surprised by the unusual weight of one of their nets—only to find a body hidden beneath a pile of fish.
According to TMZ, the fishermen were unaware of the body until they began sorting through their haul. Upon realizing what they had found, they immediately reported it to the Coast Guard.
Photos published by the outlet show the body dressed in a suit with a strap around it, keeping the arms secured to the sides.
The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office has acknowledged the discovery but has not yet confirmed the person’s identity, age, or gender.
When asked if the case is being investigated as a homicide, the D.A.’s office stated, “No conclusions at this point. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is conducting an autopsy, which may provide some answers.”
