Meghan Markle’s passion for lifestyle content shines brightly in her new Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, where she engages in activities like baking, honey harvesting, and creating homemade bath salts—all done with love and intention for her loved ones.

The Duchess of Sussex’s shift to lifestyle programming isn’t a recent development; prior to her marriage to Prince Harry, she launched a popular lifestyle blog called The Tig in 2014. So, what led to its closure? Here’s the story…

What Was The Tig?

The Tig was Meghan’s beloved lifestyle blog, conceived as a passion project while she starred in the hit TV series Suits. The site featured updates from her own life alongside a variety of topics, including food, travel, fashion, and cooking.

Her friend Silver Tree described it in the Netflix documentary Harry & Meghan, noting, “When she first was describing [the blog] to me, she said, ‘It’s like your best friend telling you all the fun things you wish you knew about in one place.'”

Did Meghan Profit from The Tig?

While exact figures remain unverified, it is believed that Meghan earned around $80,000 (£62,800) from her blog through endorsements, sponsorships, and branding opportunities.

Why Did Meghan Shut Down The Tig?

In a recent conversation, Meghan reflected on her decision to end The Tig in 2017, just before marrying Prince Harry. She indicated that becoming a member of the British royal family made it impossible for her to continue her lifestyle blog.

In an interview with People magazine, she stated, “Well, I loved The Tig, but I certainly love my husband more. So that was a choice I made at the time, and I wouldn’t change that for a second.” She also shared, “My husband met me when I had The Tig, and I see this spark in his eye when he sees me doing the things that I was doing when he first met me.”

In a video unveiling her new brand, As Ever, Meghan reiterated her connection to her passion for cooking, crafting, and gardening, saying, “As Ever essentially means as it’s always been, and if you’ve followed me since 2014 with The Tig, you know I’ve always loved these activities. I haven’t been able to share them with you in the same way for the past few years, but now I can.”

Meghan’s Departure from The Tig

Before officially closing the blog in 2017, Meghan bid farewell to her readers with an emotional message: “To all my Tig friends. After close to three beautiful years on this adventure with you, it’s time to say goodbye to The Tig.

“What began as a passion project (my little engine that could) evolved into an amazing community of inspiration, support, fun, and frivolity. You’ve made my days brighter and filled this experience with so much joy. Keep finding those Tig moments of discovery, keep laughing and
