A 46-year-old man named Ibrahim Gafaru has been arrested by the Gender Section of the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly s*xually assaulting his wife’s 15-year-old niece.
Reports indicate that Gafaru is accused of raping the minor twice last year. The first incident reportedly occurred on December 5, 2024, with a subsequent assault taking place the following day while his wife was away.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the police command, confirmed the details of the case, which was presented to the Gender Unit in Ikeja following a referral from the Domestic and S*xual Violence Agency (DSVA).
Hundeyin noted that the referral letter, addressed to the Commissioner of Police for Lagos State and dated February 20, 2024, was submitted on behalf of the 15-year-old victim.
“The case is against Ibrahim Gafaru, aged 46. The survivor alleged that on December 5 and 6, 2024, the accused, who is her aunt’s husband, forcibly s*xually assaulted her, prompting the referral,” Hundeyin stated. “The case was accepted, and an investigation commenced.”
