Friends and family are mourning the loss of Safe Na’andak Pankyes, a Nigerian woman from Plateau State, who has tragically passed away.
Safe, who married her husband, Pankyes Galak, on March 30, 2024, shared a thought-provoking Facebook post on September 4, 2024, which has now gone viral following her passing.
In her post, she expressed a desire to be celebrated while still alive, rather than receiving love and contributions only after her death. She reflected on how people who had the opportunity to support her but didn’t would later come forward to contribute to her burial.
“A day will come when my pictures will flood social media with RIP tags. Both those I impacted directly and indirectly will shed natural and artificial tears. Only I will be buried in the dark, breathless and alone.
“People who had the chance to help and show love but didn’t will then come together to contribute towards my burial. Please, celebrate me now that I’m alive because when I’m gone, I won’t be here to witness it. Thank you once again,” she wrote.

Her passing was confirmed by family and friends in Facebook posts on Sunday, February 23, 2025.
