On Sunday, February 16, Most Rev. Dr. Bulus Yohanna, the Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese, led a mass wedding ceremony for 21 couples in Niger State.

The event took place at St. Mark Catholic Church in Nsanji Nkoso, Magama Local Government Area, and included couples who had completed their traditional marriage rites and participated in three months of marriage counseling.

Bishop Yohanna explained that the ceremony was vital for ensuring the couples were properly united in the eyes of the Church.

He emphasized that cohabitation without a legal and church blessing is inappropriate, encouraging the couples to build their marriages on love and mutual companionship, as marriage is a lifelong commitment.

One of the couples, Mr. and Mrs. Cyprian Uche, expressed their appreciation to the bishop for formalizing their union. Having lived together for 22 years and with five children, they were thrilled to finally be officially married.

Mrs. Uche shared her excitement, noting that she was now eligible to participate in the women’s fellowship, a privilege she had previously been unable to enjoy.
