Operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun Corps, have rescued a 75-year-old woman from a kidnappers’ den in Ifira Akoko, Akoko South-East Local Government Area, after she was assaulted.

Recounting her ordeal, the elderly woman said, “I was returning from the farm that fateful sunny day when I saw three men approaching me.”

“As soon as they saw me, they grabbed my hands and dragged me into the bush. Before I knew it, one of them forcefully removed my clothes and violated me.”

“I was in shock and confusion, but all I remember is Amotekun operatives arriving to rescue me after hearing my cries.”

While parading the suspects at the Amotekun headquarters in Akure, the state capital, the security agency also presented other suspected kidnappers who had abducted 18 passengers from a bus along the Akure–Owo highway a few weeks earlier.

One of the victims recalled her harrowing experience, stating, “They forced us out of the bus. One man grabbed my neck and dragged me off the road into the bush. After struggling for about 20 minutes, he tore my clothes and assaulted me.”

The Amotekun Corps Commander in the state, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, confirmed that the suspects would be promptly charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
