Visibly surprised when her name was announced, Beyoncé made her way to the stage, saying, “I was not expecting this.” In her acceptance speech, she added, “I want to thank God that I’m able to still do what I love after so many years, oh my God!
“I’d like to thank all of the incredible country artists who embraced this album that we worked so hard on… I think sometimes genre is a cold word to keep us in our place as artists. I just want to encourage people to follow their passions and stay persistent.”
However, her win has stirred debate on social media, with some accusing the Grammy organizers of rigging the results to promote diversity in country music. Critics claimed the Recording Academy aimed to highlight that racial barriers could be broken even in traditionally white-dominated genres.
Others speculated that Beyoncé’s husband, Jay-Z, may have influenced the outcome, while some argued that her album didn’t surpass others in the category, including Post Malone’s.
