Princess Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, have welcomed their second child together—a baby girl named Athena.
The joyful news was shared on Wednesday through the official royal family Instagram account, as well as by Edoardo himself, who expressed gratitude for the care his wife received during childbirth.
“A massive thank you from my wife and I goes out to all the wonderful staff at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital for their exceptional care and support during this incredibly special time,” Edoardo wrote.
The hospital provides both NHS and private maternity services, including the exclusive Kensington Wing, known for its luxury accommodations. While it has not been officially confirmed that Beatrice gave birth there, the wing is a popular choice for those seeking a high-end birthing experience, with suites costing up to £10,000.
Princess Beatrice’s Birth Announcement
The royal family first shared the happy news on Instagram, posting an adorable announcement about the newest addition.
“Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi, born on Wednesday, 22nd January, at 12:57 pm,” the statement read.
The announcement also revealed that Athena weighed 4 pounds, 5 ounces at birth.
“The King and Queen, along with other members of the royal family, have all been informed and are delighted with the news. Princess Beatrice and Mr. Mapelli Mozzi would like to thank all the staff at the hospital for their wonderful care.”
The statement concluded by reassuring well-wishers that “Her Royal Highness and her daughter are healthy and doing well, and the family are enjoying spending time together with Athena’s older siblings, Wolfie and Sienna.”
