A 20-year-old woman from Pennsylvania has confessed to falsely accusing an innocent man of attempted r*pe and kidnapping, claiming she made the allegations because the man looked “creepy.”
Anjela Borisova Urumova pleaded guilty to filing a false police report against 41-year-old Daniel Pierson, whom she falsely accused of attempting to kidnap and r*pe her.
As a result of the false claims, Pierson was arrested, charged with multiple felonies, and held on a $1 million bail. He spent a month in jail before the truth came to light.
According to the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office, Urumova claimed that Pierson attacked her outside a supermarket on April 16, 2024, pulling her pants down and hitting her in the face.
During the investigation, police reviewed surveillance footage from nearby stores and conducted a forensic analysis of Urumova’s cellphone data. The review revealed several inconsistencies and contradictions in her story.
After being confronted by authorities, Urumova admitted to fabricating the entire incident, acknowledging that she had not been attacked. She explained that she had specifically chosen Pierson as her alleged attacker because she had seen him and his truck in the past. She was able to provide a detailed description of both.
Urumova claimed that the injury to her face was the result of an altercation with a family member. She stated that her grandmother, who suffered from dementia, did not recognize her and threw a plastic object at her, causing the lip injury she later attributed to Pierson.
Urumova pleaded guilty to seven misdemeanor charges, including false alarm, tampering with evidence, and making false reports. The charges against Pierson were dropped, and he was released.
Common Pleas Judge Stephen Corr has deferred sentencing to allow Urumova to undergo a pre-sentence investigation.
