A businesswoman from New Jersey has been charged with the repeated sexual abuse of a 14-year-old boy, including sending him explicit images, over a three-month period, according to authorities.

Tara Carr, 46, from Woodstown, allegedly engaged in sexual acts with the minor on multiple occasions in her vehicle.

Carr, who previously owned a successful summer camp for nearly 900 children and ran a cheerleading squad, came under investigation after the teenager reported the incidents to law enforcement.

She reportedly owned a four-bedroom, three-bathroom home valued at $600,000 in Woodstown, which was sold just last month. Carr is married to Michael Carr, a marketing executive at Rastelli Foods Group, a company associated with her family.

Court documents indicate that authorities were alerted to Carr’s alleged actions last May, leading to her arrest on January 9, 2025. According to the teen’s statements to investigators, he engaged in a sexual relationship with Carr, who frequently communicated with him through explicit messages and images on Snapchat.

Investigators say that Carr would pick up the boy from school and assault him in various locations, including Marlton Park, Pilesgrove, and Mannington Township. During an interview, she admitted to sending explicit images to the teen, as per the criminal complaint.

Law enforcement also obtained her cellphone and conducted searches of her vehicle and Snapchat account, corroborating the victim’s allegations.

A spokesperson for Rastelli Kids Complex stated that Carr held a management role and did not have direct contact with children. They noted that she stepped down from her position last year.

In their statement, they clarified: “There were no charges filed against her when these allegations first surfaced, and no previous charges have been filed against her.

“The RKC management team was unaware of the severity of the allegations until the complaint was made, and neither owner has been questioned by police regarding this matter.

“From 2007 until these allegations, Tara Carr worked seasonally as part of a larger management team for Camp Sam.

“At no time did Tara hold a coaching or management position, nor did she serve in any capacity beyond that of a parent in SJS.

“Tara’s limited role within RKC concluded in May 2024 when she resigned and relinquished all ownership.

“It is important to note that these allegations do not concern any employees, campers, athletes, or members of our RKC community. The alleged victim mentioned in the charging documents was not involved in any RKC program.”

Carr’s previous affiliations also include Camp Sam, part of the Rastelli Kids Complex, and the South Jersey Storm cheerleading squad.

Local resident Allison Reimer commented, “It really makes you lose faith in the community. You trust your kids with sports programs, and it’s concerning to hear things like this.”

Another resident, Anthony Musitano, remarked, “It’s just shocking to think that anyone could do something like that.”

Carr is currently being held in Salem County jail and is slated for a detention hearing on Wednesday, January 15.
