Bindura District Medical Officer, Dr. Tonderai Chiwawa, has sparked social media buzz after allegedly offering two goats as compensation to his pregnant ex-girlfriend, Karen Tandanguni, following their split.
The 25-year-old Karen has taken the married doctor to a traditional court, claiming he promised to marry her during their relationship, which began in November 2022.
She stated that Dr. Chiwawa even introduced her to some of his relatives, though she was warned by some family members about his history of three marriages and multiple children.
After their breakup, Karen rejected the two goats offered as compensation, describing the gesture as insulting. The situation escalated further as Karen accused Dr. Chiwawa of pressuring her to terminate the pregnancy and allegedly threatening her when she refused.
“I fear for my life because he said he is prepared to harm me if I keep the child,” she alleged.
Karen has since reported the matter to Bindura Police Station, including a theft complaint after her phone, containing incriminating messages, was stolen. The case is scheduled to be addressed by Chief Masembura on January 19.
Dr. Chiwawa has denied the allegations, asserting that he only knows Karen as someone from the neighborhood and dismissing her claims as an attempt to damage his reputation.
“I know the girl from around, and I don’t care whatever she says. You can write all the information she tells you. She just wants to tarnish my image,” he stated.
