A 12-year-old girl who suffered ‘complete emotional breakdown’ by an alleged rapë attack wrote ‘I just want to be happy again’ minutes before she took a fatal overdose.
Tragic Semina Halliwell also told how she no longer wanted to live but at the same time didn’t want to hurt ‘the few people’ that she loved, EmmanuelsBlog gathered today.
The schoolgirl had felt like ‘she wasn’t believed’ when a detective listening to her account of being sexually assaulted by a boy told her it was ‘her word against his’, her mother has told an inquest.
Rachel Halliwell yesterday claimed the officers treated her daughter ‘unprofessionally’ and made her feel like ‘an inconvenience’.
Semina initially hadn’t wanted to take the alleged rapë in January 2021 any further.
But after learning that the same boy had allegedly sexually assaulted another girl, she changed her mind, her mother Rachel said yesterday.
However while police were at the family home in Southport, Merseyside in June 2021 over an unrelated assault, Semina said ‘I’ve had enough of this’ and went upstairs.
Tragically she took an overdose of prescription medication.
Though she was rushed to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool where she underwent intensive medical treatment, Semina’s life support had to be withdrawn three days later, on June 12.
Today the second day of her inquest heard details of heartbreaking social media posts Semina wrote on the evening of June 8 shortly before taking the overdose.
In one written late in the evening she posted ‘I have no feelings’ and ‘I just want to be happy again’.
In a second she posted: ‘There’s nothing worse than not wanting to be alive anymore but not wanting to end it either because you don’t want to hurt the few people around that you love.
‘So you just wake up and exist everyday knowing how much it hurts.’
In another in the early hours of June 9, she wrote: ‘When does everything get better and when do you start to get over him?’
The hearing also heard details of a WhatsApp exchange between Semina and her mother on March 28, the day she told police she didn’t want to give a formal interview over her allegation.
In the exchange, Mrs Halliwell tells Semina that it is her decision whether to go ahead.
