Rapper Megan Thee Stallion has been granted a five-year restraining order against Canadian artist Tory Lanez, who is currently serving a ten-year prison sentence for the 2020 assault on her.

The decision follows a report from Megan’s legal team a month ago, which informed the court of Lanez’s ongoing “campaign of harassment” from prison.

In a video address to a Los Angeles courtroom on Thursday, Megan shared the emotional toll the attack continues to have on her. She revealed that the trauma of Lanez shooting her in both feet with a semiautomatic weapon has been exacerbated by continued harassment, particularly on social media, which Lanez has reportedly encouraged.

“I haven’t had peace since I was shot, and I just want to be left alone, not just by the person who shot me, but by the people he’s been paying to harass me,” she tearfully testified, as reported by Rolling Stone’s Nancy Dillon.

“I probably won’t ever find peace about this situation, but I really just want the harassment to stop,” she added.

Megan expressed fear for her safety, stating, “I feel like when he gets out of jail, it’s going to be worse. I feel like maybe he’ll shoot me again, and maybe this time, I won’t make it.”

She also spoke about the lasting impact of the trauma, saying, “No matter how many people tell me I have to get past it, it just feels like I have to relive it every day. I’m not comfortable in social situations anymore because I feel like everyone hates me because of everything he’s done and said about me since the shooting.”

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Richard Bloom acknowledged the lasting impact of such a violent act, agreeing with Megan’s testimony. He stated, “With a violent act like that, there’s a ripple effect that continues on. Ms. Pete’s testimony is that the ripple effect has been significant.”

The restraining order mandates that Lanez stay at least 100 yards away from Megan and refrain from any harassment, intimidation, or threats until at least January 9, 2030.
