The Duchess of Sussex has officially returned to social media, launching a new Instagram account under the handle @meghan.
On New Year’s Day, Meghan Markle shared her first post, a personal reel filmed by her husband, Prince Harry, near their Montecito home, where they live with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
The video captures Meghan running barefoot along a serene beach, dressed in white jeans and a flowing white shirt, her dark hair cascading loosely.
In a nod to the new year, she pauses to inscribe “2025” in the sand with her finger before joyfully running toward the sea, a radiant smile lighting up her face.
Meghan’s Instagram handle initially surfaced in 2022, accompanied by a previously unseen photo of her. Although she never confirmed ownership at the time, fans speculated it was hers, as single-name handles are typically reserved for high-profile figures.
The profile picture was later replaced with an image of a pink dahlia, potentially referencing her mother Doria Ragland’s affectionate nickname for her.
To mark her official Instagram launch, Meghan updated her profile with a striking black-and-white portrait of herself in a white summer dress, looking relaxed and carefree. The photo was taken by her friend, photographer Jake Rosenberg.
This social media milestone follows the Sussexes’ release of their first Christmas card in three years, shared through their Archewell Foundation. The card featured six images from their trips to Nigeria and Colombia, along with a touching family photo of Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet running into their parents’ arms.
The card’s message read: “On behalf of the office of Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Archewell Productions, and Archewell Foundation, we wish you a very Happy Holiday Season and a joyful new year.”
