The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) reported that Andrey Demskiy, 28, was taken into custody around 4:15 a.m. on Friday, December 20, following a 911 call about a “family disturbance.”
Deputies responded to the scene, where Demskiy’s wife accused him of assaulting both her and her mother.
When Demskiy refused to surrender peacefully, authorities learned that a toddler was alone in the house with him. They later discovered that the father had “possibly injured the child after throwing him.”
Deputies forcibly entered the residence, where they found Demskiy, who was reportedly “uncooperative” and “physically resistive,” along with the severed head of his child in a bedroom.
Detectives from the Sheriff’s Child Abuse Bureau, along with crime scene investigators, soon arrived. Authorities stated that Demskiy used a knife to behead and murder his 1-year-old son, Micha Demskiy.
Demskiy was arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail, where he remains in custody without bail. He faces three felony charges: assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, corporal injury to a spouse or cohabitant, and murder. His next court appearance is scheduled for December 24.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office confirmed the child’s identity, and a GoFundMe campaign to support the family has raised over $57,000, surpassing its $25,000 goal. The child’s mother, Angelina Demskiy, was identified in the fundraiser.
Following the incident, Demskiy’s mother-in-law was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
