Spending recently clarified his account of his last encounter with Mohbad, following questions raised about his previous statements.
In a detailed post on his social media on December 23, Spending explained that he last saw Mohbad alive between 11 am and 12 pm, contradicting his earlier statement that he had seen him at 9 pm. He attributed the confusion to the emotional trauma and anxiety he experienced after Mohbad’s sudden passing.
Spending also addressed claims that he was present at Mohbad’s house on the day of his death, which led to his wrongful detention at a police station. He acknowledged that the situation affected his mental state, contributing to the inconsistency in his earlier testimony.
He wrote, “I want to clarify that the last time I saw him alive was between 11 am and 12 pm. In February 2024, after I was released from detention, I appeared on Westo’s TikTok livestream to thank everyone who helped with my release. During the session, Westo asked me when I last saw Mohbad, and I mistakenly said it was 9 pm after we returned from the show.”
Spending further explained that he left Mohbad’s house between 3 pm and 4 pm on September 11, 2023, which aligns with his testimony at the Corona Inquest.
“I never intended to deceive or lie about when I last saw Mohbad. I apologize for the misinformation,” he said. “The last time I saw him was between 11 am and 12 pm, and I left his house between 3 pm and 4 pm on that day.”
He also denied having discussed the circumstances of Mohbad’s death with any social media influencers while in custody, except for Westo and his assistant. He refuted claims that audio recordings or text messages about such conversations existed.
Spending concluded by expressing his ongoing pain over Mohbad’s death and his hope for justice. “Mohbad’s untimely passing is still painful, and I am still recovering from the trauma. I pray for justice for Mohbad and for his killers to be held accountable.”
