According to reports from LIB, the tragic incident occurred on Thursday, December 19, 2024, in Mgababa, KwaZulu-Natal. Mlondi believed that Bongeka had cheated on him and suspected that Okuhle was not his biological child.

In a voice message sent to a relative, Mlondi expressed his doubts, which he claimed motivated him to commit these violent acts.

Tragically, both Bongeka and Okuhle were found with their throats slit, while Mlondi was discovered hanging from the ceiling in their RDP house.

Sources indicate that Mlondi had been unemployed for four months and was experiencing escalating anger issues, which those close to him believed stemmed from his job loss. It was also reported that Bongeka’s cellphone was destroyed during the incident, likely in an attempt to eliminate potential evidence.

Disturbingly, this incident took place in the same home where Mlondi’s father was murdered three years earlier.

Former Minister of Police Bheki Cele, who is Mlondi’s uncle, expressed his devastation upon learning of the tragedy. He noted that Mlondi’s voice note provided details about the crime scene and indicated his intentions.

On behalf of the family, Bheki Cele emphasized the profound sorrow they feel, wishing that Mlondi had chosen to end his own life instead of harming innocent individuals. He added that the Makhathini family is also heartbroken over the events.
