Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, representing Ondo South, has disclosed that President Bola Tinubu plans to harness artificial intelligence (AI) to address Nigeria’s security challenges.

The senator made this known during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today program.

Emphasizing the president’s dedication to improving security, Ibrahim highlighted Tinubu’s allocation of N5 trillion for security initiatives, with a focus on leveraging technology to combat insurgency and banditry.

“Give it to President Tinubu, whether you like him or not. I’m not his spokesman, but the security index has improved,” Ibrahim stated.

He continued, “Before coming on, I reviewed Nigeria’s security index globally. No city or local government is currently under Boko Haram control. As a security expert, I can affirm that he is prioritizing technology over manpower to solve security problems, and this investment will require significant funding.”

Ibrahim also hinted at plans to integrate technological innovations, including an AI-driven application for security forces.

“He is likely to develop an app for use by the police and military. By 2025, criminals will face their toughest challenges yet. AI will be deployed to empower security personnel and enhance public safety,” he said.

The senator expressed optimism about the economic ripple effects of improved security.

“If he can achieve this with N5 trillion, imagine the economic benefits that will follow,” Ibrahim remarked, adding that a stable security environment would pave the way for increased national revenue.
