Prince William and Prince Harry are separately congratulating the winners of the Diana Award, a prestigious recognition established in honor of their late mother.

The Prince of Wales has written a heartfelt letter, shared on Wednesday, praising the “extraordinary” recipients for their “kindness and compassion,” and telling them, “My mother would be immensely proud of you.”

In his message, Prince William expressed: “Congratulations on receiving The Diana Award! I am so proud of the impact each of you has had on your communities and beyond. You are driven by kindness and compassion, and through this, you are all changing the world for the better.

“In this special 25th anniversary year for the Diana Award, it is wonderful to see young people from around the globe being recognized.”

He continued: “At times, the world can seem uncertain and unfamiliar, and I know many of you have faced challenges to make positive change. Despite this, I am inspired by what young people like you are able to achieve.”

Remembering his late mother, William added, “I know my mother, in whose memory you receive the Diana Award today, would be immensely proud of you. I hope this award helps you to further champion your cause and support those around you. Thank you for your dedication. You are all extraordinary.” The letter was signed simply, “William.”

Meanwhile, Prince Harry has recorded a video message that will be shown during the virtual Diana Award ceremony on Thursday. In it, he will appear alongside Legacy Award recipients Chiara Riyanti Hutapea Zhang, 18, from Indonesia, and Christina Williams, 27, from Jamaica.

In his message, the Duke of Sussex will reflect on how Diana’s vision still inspires him and address global challenges, including “systemic injustices.”

Harry is expected to say, “My mother’s belief in the power of young people to drive positive change continues to inspire me. No matter the challenges we face, whether it’s climate change, mental health, or systemic injustices, her legacy and the efforts of young people to inspire further action in the world fill me with hope.”

The video was recorded in September when Harry met Chiara and Christina at a Diana Award event in New York.

Despite their ongoing rift, which was intensified by the allegations Harry made against William and the Princess of Wales in his Netflix documentary and memoir Spare, the royal brothers continue to support the charity. The Diana Award, which is marking its 25th anniversary, stated that both William and Harry support the organization.

In March, the brothers made separate addresses at the Diana Legacy Award ceremony, with William attending in person in London and Harry delivering a live-streamed message to the winners after his brother had left.
