Elton John, the legendary music icon, has shared a heartbreaking update on his health, confirming that he has lost his sight following a severe infection.
The 77-year-old musician made this emotional revelation during a charity gala performance of The Devil Wears Prada: The Musical.
Addressing the audience, John said, “As some of you may know, I have had issues and now I have lost my sight.”
This announcement comes just days after he disclosed that he had lost vision in his right eye.
At the Sunday night event, Sir Elton John spoke to the crowd, admitting, “I haven’t been able to see the performance, but I have enjoyed listening to it.” He also expressed his gratitude to his husband, David Furnish, who was present at the gala and has been a supportive pillar during this challenging time.
“To my husband, who’s been my rock… I’ve lost my eyesight, so it’s hard for me to see them, but I love to hear them,” John said. “And, boy, it sounded good tonight! OK! Thank you for coming!”
Despite the setback, John reassured his fans that he is receiving treatment to improve his vision.
The singer, known for his hit song Sacrifice, has been married to Canadian filmmaker David Furnish since 2014, after being together for 31 years. Furnish also co-directed the documentary Elton John: Never Too Late with R.J.
