A 25-year-old man has drowned in a well located at an unfinished building in Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State.
Saminu Abdullahi, spokesperson for the Kano State Fire Service, confirmed the incident in a statement, noting that the decomposed body was retrieved from the well on Saturday, November 2, 2024.
According to the statement, “On Saturday, November 2, 2024, at around 16:15, the central control room received an emergency call from the DPO of Kwalli Police Division.”
It reported that a lifeless body had been spotted in a well at an uncompleted structure in Kadama Bakin Titi, Kumbotso.
The rescue team arrived at the scene at approximately 16:40 and observed dried blood stains around the well. Upon looking inside, they discovered the decomposing body of a man, around 25 years old, who was unknown to local residents.
“The body showed signs of swelling, indicating he had likely been in the well for about four days, according to locals,” the statement continued.
The rescue team subsequently recovered the body and handed it over to ASP Sani Abdulhamid, DCO2 of Kumbotso Police Division.
