Singer and actress Ariana Grande has reverted to her full birth name, “Ariana Grande-Butera,” in the credits of her upcoming film Wicked after reconnecting with her father.

According to E! News, Grande’s name will appear as “Ariana Grande-Butera” in the opening and closing credits of the musical fantasy film. Her full name combines the surnames of her mother, Joan Grande, and her father, Ed Butera.

The name change reflects her renewed relationship with her father after years of estrangement. Grande and her father lost touch in 2013, following his split from her mother when she was just eight years old.

Ariana alluded to their complicated relationship in her 2018 song “Thank U, Next,” singing about the growth she gained from the family dynamics. She described the fallout as “one of the hardest things” she had to face, telling Seventeen magazine in 2014, “It’s private… It took me so long to be okay with it.

“So much of me comes from my father, and for so long, I didn’t like that about myself. I had to accept that it’s okay not to get along with somebody and still love them.”

In 2017, she shared a nostalgic post of her father on social media, captioned “I love you,” hinting at the mending of their relationship.
