The engagement announcement, published in The Times, read: “The engagement is announced between Lieutenant Colonel Jonny Thompson, son of Mr and Mrs Alan Thompson of Morpeth, Northumberland, and Olivia Rose, daughter of Mr and Mrs Simon Lewis OBE of Primrose Hill, London.”
Olivia previously worked with King Charles and Queen Camilla, while her father, Simon Lewis, served as the communications head for Queen Elizabeth II following Princess Diana’s passing, according to MailOnline.
Although the couple has mostly kept their relationship private, Johnny and Olivia were spotted together at Trooping the Colour in June.
Johnny gained public attention as the “hot equerry” in 2018 while serving as a bodyguard for the late Queen.
He went viral in September 2022 when he was photographed beside King Charles, impeccably dressed, sparking fan comments online. Tatler’s Social Power Index even celebrated him for his “fabulous sense of humor” and ability to look equally stylish in both suits and kilts.
Equerries are responsible for meticulously organizing the royals’ schedules, and last October, Johnny, who trained with the 5th Battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland, was reportedly promoted to “super equerry” for his dedication.
Since joining the royal circle, he has been a part of significant events, including King Charles’ coronation and royal visits to Northern Ireland, Germany, and France.
