Amanda Gallagher tragically died in an accident after accidentally backing into an airplane propeller while taking photos at a Kansas airfield.
The 37-year-old photographer was capturing images of people boarding and exiting planes on Saturday afternoon, October 26, at the Air Capital Drop Zone near Wichita when she unknowingly backed into an active propeller, according to KAKE News.
Gallagher, an avid skydiver, was immediately transported to a local hospital in critical condition but ultimately succumbed to her injuries.
Owner of AG Photography, Gallagher shared images of her travels and photos taken at the Air Capital Drop Zone in Derby, the largest suburb of Wichita. A fundraiser in her honor, which had raised over $6,000 by Monday, October 28, noted she “died doing what she loved: skydiving and taking pictures.”
Her family described her in the fundraiser as “kind, adventurous, creative, and beautiful inside and out.”
Cook Airfield extended its condolences to Gallagher’s family in a Facebook statement, saying, “Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the young lady who died yesterday after a tragic accident with an airplane propeller at Cook Airfield. I wasn’t there when it happened, so I will not speculate on what could have or should have happened differently. Just please keep her family, friends, and Air Capital Drop Zone family in your prayers and thoughts.”
The accident is currently under investigation.
