A man has been shot by police after stabbing several people inside an Illinois Toyota dealership.
The attacker struck multiple individuals at the Brian Bemis Toyota dealership on Sycamore Road.
DeKalb County police repeatedly ordered the man to drop the knife, and opened fire when he refused to comply.
City Manager Bill Nicklas reported that while several employees suffered stab wounds, none of the injuries were life-threatening.
“DeKalb police responded to a report of an individual wielding a knife and attacking employees,” Nicklas told the Daily Chronicle. “When police arrived, they commanded the assailant to stop, but he did not comply, leading to a police-involved shooting.”
One of the injured employees sustained a stab wound to an extremity, according to NBC Chicago.
The suspect was taken to the hospital, where he is listed in stable condition and is expected to survive.
Police confirmed that the assailant was neither a staff member nor an employee of the dealership and was armed with multiple knives.
