American rapper A$AP Rocky is reportedly poised to purchase EFL club Tranmere Rovers. The 36-year-old, who is in a relationship with pop icon Rihanna, is said to be part of an investment group led by celebrity lawyer Joe Tacopina.
Tacopina, a former legal representative for Donald Trump, has been in negotiations with the League Two club for over six months regarding an 80% stake valued at £15 million.
The proposed takeover is currently awaiting regulatory approval from the EFL, and Rocky is expected to attend games at Prenton Park once the deal is finalized.
A source told The Sun’s Sunday Bizarre column: “Rocky is close with Joe and has committed to the Tranmere bid. Joe has attended Tranmere matches, and Rocky plans to visit after the deal is completed.”
“We might even see Rihanna at a League Two football game,” the source added.
Tacopina believes Tranmere, a renowned club located near Liverpool, is undervalued and could be revitalized through smart marketing and celebrity involvement. “With Rocky on board, it might just happen,” the source said.
A$AP Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, shares two children with Rihanna – 2-year-old RZA and 15-month-old Riot Rose.
