Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on Saturday, October 19, that those who attempted to “assassinate me and my wife today made a bitter mistake” after a drone was launched toward his home in Caesarea, central Israel.
The Israeli military confirmed that the drone originated from Lebanon, and Netanyahu’s spokesperson stated that the attack was directed at his residence. Fortunately, neither Netanyahu nor his wife were home at the time, and no one else was injured.
Netanyahu attributed the attack to Hezbollah, labeling them as “agents of Iran,” and vowed that they would “pay a heavy price” for the assault. As of the time of reporting, Hezbollah had not claimed responsibility for the attack.
“This will not deter me or the state of Israel from continuing our war for revival to ensure our security for generations,” Netanyahu declared. He added that after the killing of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, Israeli forces would “continue forward until the end.”
“We eliminated the master murderer Yahya Sinwar,” he said, reiterating that the conflict would persist until its conclusion.
Netanyahu expressed pride in Israel’s soldiers and citizens, and when asked if anything could deter him, he responded, “No, nothing will deter us. We continue until victory.”
Earlier on Friday, White House national security communications adviser John Kirby suggested that Sinwar’s death had been a key obstacle to a ceasefire in the Gaza conflict and that his killing could potentially speed up negotiations to end the war.
