A five-year-old girl was allegedly assaulted by three minors, aged 6, 13, and 16, in Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia district, India, as reported by the police on Saturday, October 19, 2024.
The police have filed charges against the accused under the Bharantiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from S*xual Offences (POCSO) Act following a complaint from the girl’s mother.
The incident occurred on the evening of Wednesday, October 16, in the Kotwali police station area. Superintendent of Police Vikrant Veer confirmed that the three suspects have been detained for questioning.
According to Veer, the alleged assault took place while the children were playing on the roof of their home.
“The case has been registered based on the complaint filed by the mother, and the scene has been investigated with the help of forensic experts,” he added, noting that legal action is underway as the suspects are identified.
