Alec Baldwin’s film Rust is set to make its world premiere next month at Poland’s EnergaCAMERIMAGE International Cinematography Film Festival in Toruń, three years after the tragic on-set shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Hutchins was accidentally killed when a loaded prop gun discharged during filming.
The premiere will also feature a special panel to honor Hutchins’ life, led by director Joel Souza, who was injured in the 2021 incident.
He will be joined by cinematographer Bianca Cline, who completed the film after Hutchins’ death, and Stephen Lighthill, one of Hutchins’ mentors from film school.
Baldwin is not expected to attend the premiere, and it remains uncertain if other cast members will be present.
After production halted following Hutchins’ death, filming eventually resumed, despite Baldwin facing a manslaughter charge, which was later dismissed when prosecutors withheld critical live ammunition evidence from his legal team.
Meanwhile, Rust armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed is serving an 18-month prison sentence after being convicted of involuntary manslaughter in relation to the incident.
