Did You Notice Buckingham Palace’s  Mistake With Princess Beatrice’s Pregnancy Announcement

Buckingham Palace announced the joyful news on Tuesday that Princess Beatrice is expecting her second child, but the initial announcement included a small error.

The palace had to delete their first post on X (formerly Twitter) due to a typo, where Beatrice was mistakenly referred to as “Her Royal Highess.” The corrected post soon followed.

The official statement read: “Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very pleased to announce that they are expecting their second child together in early spring; a sibling for Wolfie, aged eight, and Sienna, aged three. His Majesty The King has been informed, and both families are delighted with the news.”

Two new photos accompanied the announcement, one showing Edoardo embracing a smiling Beatrice in a puffer jacket and another of Sienna and Wolfie enjoying a woodland walk with their father.

Regarding Beatrice’s titles, she was born in August 1988 as “Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice of York,” reflecting her father, the Duke of York’s title.

Since her 2020 marriage to property developer Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, she has been styled “Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice, Mrs. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.”

Their daughter Sienna does not hold a royal title, as titles are inherited from the father, and Edoardo was not granted a dukedom or earldom by the late Queen Elizabeth II.

However, Edoardo, with Italian noble heritage, is a Count, which makes Princess Beatrice a Countess or “Countessa” and a “Nobile Donna” in Italy. While Italian titles are not officially recognized in the Republic, they can be used as a courtesy.

Edoardo’s father, Count Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi, previously explained to The Daily Mail: “Edoardo is the only male descendant carrying the family name into the next generation. He is a count—his wife will automatically be a countess, and their children will be counts or nobile donna.”
