The father of a 14-year-old girl who suffered life-altering injuries in an acid attack outside her school has shared the first images of her devastating wounds, which he says will require long-term care.
Corey McFarlane, in sharing the heartbreaking photos of his daughter’s injuries, expressed that words “cannot capture the shock, pain, and trauma” she is enduring.
Mr. McFarlane has launched a fundraiser to cover the immediate and ongoing costs of his daughter’s care and support, describing the attack as a “senseless act of violence.” In his plea for help, he revealed that the incident occurred on September 30 at 16:35 outside Westminster Academy.
He wrote, “Words cannot describe the shock, pain, and trauma she is experiencing, both physically and emotionally. This senseless act has caused severe injuries requiring urgent and long-term medical care, surgeries, rehabilitation, and mental health support.”
As they focus on her recovery, McFarlane also stressed the importance of bringing the perpetrator to justice. He appealed for support in spreading awareness, gathering information, and assisting the investigation.
“We are humbly asking for donations to help cover her medical expenses and support her recovery journey. Any contribution, large or small, will make a significant difference,” he added, expressing gratitude for any form of support, financial or otherwise.
The Metropolitan Police told MailOnline that no arrests have been made in the search for the masked attacker, who was dressed in dark clothing with their face covered. Detectives are appealing for dashcam footage to help locate the suspect.
Both victims remain hospitalized, with the girl’s injuries described as “potentially life-changing.” Two police officers were also briefly hospitalized after feeling unwell but have since been discharged.
Former police officer Peter Williams told GB News that he expects an arrest soon, citing the presence of CCTV and the public nature of the attack. The Met’s Detective Chief Inspector Dean Purvis added that officers are working closely with the school and local authorities, reassuring the community that a thorough investigation is underway.
Westminster Academy remained closed for a day, with classes conducted online. Principal Numera Anwar confirmed that a pupil, teacher, and a member of the public had been injured in the incident and assured the community that support was being provided to those affected.
