Queen Elizabeth II battled bone cancer for over a year before her death, according to former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

This revelation comes from Johnson’s upcoming memoir, where he discloses that the late monarch had been diagnosed with the illness during her final years. Royal biographer Gyles Brandreth also addressed rumors of the Queen’s cancer in his book.

While the official cause of Queen Elizabeth’s death on September 8, 2022, was attributed to old age, Johnson’s memoir claims that she had been suffering from bone cancer. He also reflects on his relationship with the Queen, including their last meeting at Balmoral Castle just days before her passing.

According to excerpts obtained by the Daily Mail, Johnson wrote that he had known about the Queen’s condition for over a year, adding that her doctors had expressed concern about her declining health.

Johnson is not the first to mention Queen Elizabeth’s cancer diagnosis. In his December 2022 book Elizabeth: An Intimate Portrait, Brandreth suggested that the Queen may have had myeloma, a rare form of bone marrow cancer, which would explain her fatigue, weight loss, and mobility issues during her final year.

Despite these claims, Buckingham Palace has never released a detailed medical report regarding her death.

Following her passing, King Charles III ascended the throne, and it has been reported that he, too, is undergoing treatment for an undisclosed type of cancer.
