Wife Sentenced To 10 Years In Prison For Stabbing Husband’s Mistress

Stacey Mkandla, a 34-year-old woman from Zimbabwe, has received a 10-year prison sentence for fatally stabbing her husband’s mistress after discovering the two in a compromising situation in her marital bed earlier this year.

While attending an all-night church service, Mkandla was alerted by neighbors and rushed home around 4 a.m., only to find her husband, Tafadzwa Emmanuel Munyoro, in bed with his lover, Brightness Phiri.

According to Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, a spokesperson for the Midlands provincial police, Mkandla had left her home the night before for the prayer session, leaving her husband alone.

Upon her arrival, a chaotic confrontation ensued, during which Phiri attempted to flee naked but ultimately succumbed to injuries inflicted by Mkandla.

Following the violent incident, Mkandla voluntarily turned herself in at Nehanda Police Station without resisting arrest.

During the court proceedings, Public Prosecutor Clemence Chimbari revealed that Mkandla had used a sharp object to stab Phiri, targeting vulnerable areas like her eyes and chest, suggesting intent to cause fatal harm.

Mkandla’s lawyer, Esau Mandipa, sought a lighter sentence, arguing that Mkandla acted under “extreme provocation” and in a moment of intense emotional distress after Phiri fought back.

Despite these defenses, the court sentenced Mkandla to ten years in prison for the deadly attack.
