In an interview with The Times, Tom, the stepson of King Charles, dispelled the rumor that his mother, 77, has a reputation for “drinking gin and smoking,” calling it “totally inaccurate.” He clarified that Camilla has “never drunk a glass of gin in her life” and that she “doesn’t smoke.”
The 49-year-old speculated that this misconception likely stems from her portrayal in the Channel 4 sitcom The Windsors, which he admitted to having watched.
A renowned food writer with seven cookbooks to his name, Tom credits his love of food to growing up in Bolehyde Manor in Wiltshire. “My mother was a good cook. Totally normal, nice food, watching The Fall Guy with shepherd’s pie,” he shared. He added, “My mother’s roast chicken. I’ve wheeled that out before.”
Tom also has a close relationship with his stepfather, King Charles. In a 2015 interview with A Current Affair, he expressed his admiration for Charles, stating that he would make a “fantastic King” and has always been “kind, good, and lovely.” Tom added, “All you care about for your parents is that they’re happy, and my mother is exceptionally happy at the moment.”
Queen Camilla has two children, Tom and Laura, with her ex-husband Andrew Parker Bowles. The former couple, married from 1973 to 1995, have remained on good terms. Camilla is also a proud grandmother of five, with Tom having two children, Lola, 16, and Freddy, 14, and Laura having Eliza, 16, and 14-year-old twins, Louis and Gus.
