The company behind Bluetooth earrings similar to those worn by Kamala Harris during a presidential debate has addressed allegations that she used the device to cheat.
Harris, who has previously expressed concerns about Bluetooth headphones as a ‘security risk,’ faced accusations of wearing earphones disguised as pearl earrings to assist her during her debate with Donald Trump.
The gold pearl earrings, believed to be from Tiffany’s, were compared to smart audio earrings made by the German start-up NOVA due to their resemblance.
Malte Iversen, managing director of NOVA’s manufacturing partner Icebach Sound, stated that he could neither confirm nor deny if Harris wore their product.
“We are unable to confirm whether Mrs. Harris used one of our products. While the resemblance is notable and our product could potentially be used in such a setting, it was not specifically designed for presidential debates,” Iversen said in a statement.
Iversen also playfully suggested a way to balance the playing field for Trump, noting their development of a male version of the earrings.
“To ensure fairness for both candidates, we are working on a male version and will soon make it available to the Trump campaign. However, choosing a color might be a challenge, as orange doesn’t match well with many colors,” Iversen told Just the News.
The debate on September 10, 2024, marked the first face-off between Harris and Trump, featuring a spirited exchange on topics including economic policy, election integrity, and rally performance.
