Renowned Yoruba film producer and director Shina Sanyaolu has died. The news was confirmed by Bolaji Amusan, known as Mr. Latin and president of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), via Instagram. Tributes from colleagues in the industry have been pouring in.

Veteran actor Prince Jide Kosoko also honored Sanyaolu with a heartfelt Instagram tribute:

“Tribute to a Beloved Brother: Shina Sanyaolu”

“Goodnight, my dear brother.

Shina Sanyaolu was more than just a remarkable individual; he was a beacon of kindness and warmth to all who knew him. His passion for the arts and his steadfast support for our industry were unparalleled. Shina was always there, offering help and opening doors when they seemed shut. For those of us who traveled to the UK in the 80s, he made it feel like home, welcoming us, providing us a place to stay, and even taking time from his busy schedule to drive us around.

Shina, your boundless generosity and the impact you made on countless lives are truly remarkable. Although the world feels a little emptier without you, your legacy continues to live on in the hearts you’ve touched.

As you embark on your journey to eternal rest, may you reunite with your dear friend Babatunde Omidina, also known as Baba Suwe, and all those who have passed before you. Your impact will not be forgotten, and your memory will be cherished forever.

Rest in peace, my brother. You will be deeply missed.”

May his soul rest in peace. Amen.
