American-Nigerian singer, Collins Obinna Chibueze, better known as Shaboozey, has received two nominations at the 2024 Country Music Awards. He is up for New Artist of the Year, and his hit song, “Tipsy (A Bar Song),” is nominated for Single of the Year.

“Tipsy” has matched Beyoncé’s U.S. Billboard Hot 100 record and is now the most streamed song in the U.S. for 2024, with over 700 million streams on Spotify, according to Chart Data. It has also surpassed Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” and Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things” to become the top-selling song in America this year.

In a statement on X on September 9, Shaboozey expressed his gratitude for the nominations and sympathized with Beyoncé, who did not receive any nominations despite her chart-topping country album.

He wrote, “I wrote a song about winning a CMA in 2016, and now I’m nominated for 2! Thank you @CountryMusic and congratulations to all the other nominees. It’s an honor beyond words. #CMAawards.”

Shaboozey praised Beyoncé’s country album, “Cowboy Cater,” as one of the most innovative in the genre and credited her for paving the way for Black country musicians.

“Thank you @Beyonce for opening doors, starting conversations, and delivering one of the most groundbreaking country albums ever!” he added.
