A couple’s intimate encounter in their SUV nearly turned tragic when their vehicle rolled into a Philadelphia river in the early hours of the morning.

The couple was in the backseat of a 2020 Range Rover near the Schuylkill River in Fairmount Park around 4:15 a.m. on Wednesday, August 28, when a shift in their position accidentally nudged the SUV’s gear stick, according to police information shared with NBC10.

Shortly after, the Range Rover rolled over the edge and sank into the river, approximately two miles from Philadelphia City Hall.

Fortunately, the couple managed to escape the vehicle before it submerged, and neither sustained injuries from the incident.

Police believe the mishap occurred while the couple was engaged in intimate activities. The Range Rover was recovered from the river around 9 a.m., and law enforcement has stated that no charges will be filed against the couple.
