This significant milestone coincides with a notable year for the Jordanian royal family, as the country celebrates the Silver Jubilee of His Majesty King Abdullah II, marking 25 years since his ascension to the throne.
Earlier this year, King Abdullah honored Queen Rania with the prestigious Order of the Bejeweled Grand Cordon of Al Nahda in recognition of her 25 years of dedicated service to Jordan. The award acknowledges her pivotal role in advancing Jordanian society and supporting its citizens across various domains.
In a public letter to Queen Rania, King Abdullah conveyed the gratitude and admiration of Jordanians for her efforts to develop the country and secure a brighter future for its children. He noted the deep affection people have for her as both the wife of their King and the mother of their Crown Prince.
The birthday celebration also follows the recent joy of Queen Rania becoming a grandmother. Her eldest son, Crown Prince Hussein, and daughter-in-law, Princess Rajwa, welcomed their daughter, Princess Iman, on August 3. The royal family has since shared several cherished moments with the public.
On August 13, Queen Rania expressed her delight in her new role as a grandmother, sharing a touching photo with her granddaughter on Instagram. Alongside a picture of herself with King Abdullah and little Iman, she commented, “So much cuteness in my arms.” Just hours after Iman’s birth, Queen Rania shared her heartfelt emotions on social media, saying, “Iman, you’ve already got a hold of my heart. Our family has never been happier!”
Beyond her family life, Queen Rania remains steadfast in her commitment to Jordan, working alongside King Abdullah to foster various initiatives that enhance education and community empowerment. Over the past 25 years, she has founded the Queen Rania Foundation for Education and Development (QRF) and spearheaded several educational projects, including Edraak, the first non-profit Arabic MOOC platform, the Queen Rania Teacher Academy (QRTA), and Madrasati. Her other contributions include the Al-Aman Fund for the Future of Orphans and the Queen Rania Award for Excellence in Education, recognizing outstanding educators in Jordan.
Internationally, Queen Rania has voiced strong support for ending the Israeli war on Gaza and advocated for a fair and peaceful resolution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. This year, she has met with representatives from organizations like UNICEF, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), and Save the Children to discuss their critical work in Gaza and the challenges of providing essential aid.
