The 55-year-old actress and singer, who filed for divorce from 52-year-old Affleck on Tuesday, August 20, after two years of marriage, has requested that her name be restored to Jennifer Lynn Lopez.
In the court documents, Lopez cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the divorce and stated that neither she nor Affleck should receive spousal support. She also requested a separation of their assets and debts, noting that the specifics of their separate property are currently unknown and that she reserves the right to amend her petition once this information is clear.
Regarding community and quasi-community property, Lopez indicated that she is working to determine rights to assets and debts, but acknowledged that the exact details are not yet known and will be resolved later.
It has been reported that they did not have a prenuptial agreement, which could lead to disputes over their assets, including their $68 million Beverly Hills mansion, which they have listed for sale.
Lopez and Affleck married in Las Vegas on July 17, 2022, and celebrated with a grand ceremony in Savannah, Georgia, later that August.
In a December 2022 Vogue interview, Lopez expressed pride in being Mrs. Affleck and discussed her decision to legally change her last name, describing it as a “romantic” gesture. She noted, however, that despite the legal change, she would still be known as Jennifer Lopez to the public.
