Over the years, Prince Harry and Prince William have adopted several hobbies and habits from their father, King Charles. They share a love for playing polo, spending time outdoors, and turning off unnecessary lights at home.
Notably, Charles’ long-standing commitment to sustainability and environmental advocacy has influenced his sons.
In the 2018 BBC documentary Prince, Son and Heir: Charles at 70, both Prince William and Prince Harry spoke warmly about their father’s dedication to reducing plastic pollution.
In a touching segment, Harry, 39, shared how he embraced his father’s habit of picking up litter. He recalled, “I used to get teased at school for picking up rubbish. I didn’t do it consciously—I just picked it up when I saw it while walking. It’s something I realized I do because I’m programmed to do it, thanks to my father. Really, we should all be doing it.”
William echoed his brother’s sentiments, saying, “We both thought, ‘This is perfectly normal; everyone must do it.'”
Recently, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle completed a four-day tour of Colombia, engaging with locals, visiting schools and festivals, and even learning new drumming skills. On their final day, they attended the “Afro Women and Power” Forum at Valle del Cauca with Vice President Márquez.
Meghan, fluent in Spanish, impressed the audience by greeting them in the language and discussing the Archewell Foundation’s work. She expressed gratitude for the warm reception, saying, “Because we are in your country, my husband and I can feel this embrace from Colombia—it’s incredible. The culture, the history—this trip was a dream.”
Meghan also spoke about her daughter, Princess Lilibet, and her efforts to encourage her three-year-old to be independent.
She shared, “At three, she has found her voice, and we’re so proud of that because it’s how she will help shape a different environment from what we grew up in.”
In paying tribute to her mother, Meghan added, “I find inspiration in the strong women around me, my mother being one of them.”
