RCCG: Our Church’s Alter Not For Male Pastors With Braids, Women With Heavy Makeup

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has criticized clergymen who wear braided hair and clergywomen who use false eyelashes and heavy makeup.

Speaking at his church’s recent annual convention, Adeboye stated that such trends among church workers will no longer be tolerated. He remarked, “In Yorubaland, the only men who braid their hair are the priests of Sango, the god of thunder. This is not a mission where we adapt to such practices. Even after I’m gone, it will not be permitted.”

Adeboye emphasized that any pastor, especially female pastors, who appears excessively made up will be removed from the altar. He added, “If you are my children, you cannot change my stance. Men don’t wear makeup because we have a sense of superiority and acknowledge God’s creation as perfect.”

He continued, “When you start using false nails, I wonder what you’re trying to achieve. If God had intended for you to have false nails or eyelashes, He would have created you that way.”

Adeboye urged those who enjoy unusual appearances to repent and embrace modesty. “You can tell anyone who questions your drastic changes, ‘Daddy GO said so,’” he advised.

The cleric also commented on women who reveal more skin, suggesting they do so out of insecurity. “A woman who exposes her body is often trying to divert attention from her face because she feels unattractive,” he said. “All my daughters, remember: You are fearfully and wonderfully made. If someone doesn’t appreciate you as you are, that’s their loss.”
