Rick Ross is facing a lawsuit from a disabled man who alleges that his popular Car & Bike Show failed to provide necessary accommodations for attendees with disabilities.
Darris Straughter has filed the lawsuit, claiming that the event, which was promoted as a premier experience for car enthusiasts, did not meet accessibility promises.
Straughter asserts that he was excited to attend the show but was let down when the wheelchair-accessible shuttle bus he was promised never showed up, leaving him stranded in the parking lot for hours.
According to the lawsuit, Straughter sold his car to afford travel, lodging, and a ticket to the event.
He had contacted the event organizers two weeks prior to request wheelchair accommodations and was assured that a shuttle would be available. When the shuttle did not arrive, Straughter was forced to give up his ticket and return to his hotel in frustration.
Straughter also alleges that event organizers promised refunds to those unable to access the event but failed to follow through or provide compensation.
Represented by attorney John Hoover Esq., Straughter is suing Rick Ross for breach of contract, unjust enrichment, and violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
The lawsuit seeks both damages and a court order requiring future car shows to ensure proper accessibility for disabled attendees.
