Mike Tindall has a close relationship with his mother-in-law, the Princess Royal, and even had her as a guest on his rugby podcast last year alongside the Prince and Princess of Wales.
The former England star, now 45, has been married to Princess Anne’s daughter, Zara, since 30 July 2011. However, leading up to their wedding, Mike revealed that his future mother-in-law made an unusual request, which he graciously declined.
Mike’s Nose Before
In 2011, while on the set of Sky One’s A League of Their Own, Mike revealed to producers and crew that Princess Anne had suggested he undergo corrective surgery on his nose.
Having broken his nose at least eight times during his sports career, Mike declined Anne’s request, explaining that surgery would have disrupted his training schedule.
In an interview with the Radio Times a few months after his wedding, Mike defended his mother-in-law, describing her suggestion as “a light-hearted, jokey comment” and adding, “It wasn’t a big deal, and look at my nose—can you blame her?”
Mike’s Nose After Surgery
Mike, who was part of the England rugby squad who won the 2003 World Cup, retired from the sport in 2014.
The father-of-three underwent a procedure to straighten his nose in April 2018 ahead of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding.
