Prince William’s Equerry Respond To A Cheeky Royal Sign At The Switzerland Match

Prince William flew to Germany on Saturday to watch England take on Switzerland in the quarter-finals of the Euros.

While he has occasionally attended football matches with his son Prince George, the young royal did not join his father on this trip. Instead, the Prince of Wales made the journey solo. William looked very dapper in a smart suit and was seen laughing with fellow fans before the match.

One moment that caught the eye of William and his equerry was when a cheeky Swiss fan held up a sign reading: “God Save The Cheese”. William spotted the sign and was seen laughing.

His smile melted away when the kick-off whistle sounded and William adopted a serious face to watch the match. It proved to be incredibly tense for the royal with the game eventually going to penalties with England ultimately triumphing.

Following the result, the royal tweeted: “Nail biting to the very end. Well done @England! Semi-finals here we come! We believe. W.”

The Prince hasn’t attended many games for this year’s Euros, but he was present when England faced Denmark, where he reunited with his old friend, King Frederik. The Danish monarch was accompanied by his youngest daughter, Princess Josephine.

Although the royals were rivals that night, William and Frederik exchanged friendly greetings and were seen laughing together on several occasions. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, leaving no room for bragging on either side.

It’s been a busy week for William, who joined his father, King Charles, in Scotland for a series of festivities traditionally known as ‘Royals Week.’ One of the events was a meeting of the Order of the Thistle, an order of chivalry associated with Scotland.

William was installed into the Order in 2012 by his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. Arriving alongside his father, both were seen wearing the traditional attire for members of the Order.

Despite his busy schedule, William managed to unwind during the week and was captured on video by a fan zipping around the grounds of Kensington Palace on an e-scooter when he returned to London.
