Spanish police hunting for missing British teenager Jay Slater have found a Brit during their search for him.
WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT JAY SLATER
The disappearance of Slater, 19, last Monday morning after attending a three-day rave in Tenerife has captured the attention of the nation.
Slater was last known to have been in Rural de Teno National Park, where his phone pinged a nearby cell tower at 8:50am on June 17.
THEY FOUND 51-YEAR-OLD INSTEAD
Spanish police Monday said that they managed to find a 51-year-old Scottish hiker who got lost in the same national park.
The hiker was found by police in Asomada Canyon on Friday as they searched for Slater.Â
POLICE STATEMENT
Police said in a social media post: ‘Locals observed how said hiker entered very early into an area of difficult access not suitable for travel and after several hours passed without him returning to the starting point, they alerted the agents who were at that time in the area.
‘Tired and disoriented, he was located by the agents and the rescue team who helped him get out of the ravine.’
Now detectives on the holiday island are trying to determine whether Jay’s disappearance is linked to his criminal past after the Spanish press revealed that he was previously involved in a machete attack that left a man fighting for his life.
