The Princess of Wales’s parents accompanied him to Royal Ascot on Wednesday, and Prince William even came to the aid of his mother-in-law during a relatable mishap.
Photographs captured the moment when William helped Carole as her heel got stuck in the grass inside the parade ring at the Berkshire racecourse. The Prince was seen holding his mother-in-law’s hand as she freed her shoe, and the pair laughed off the incident together.
Carole, aged 69, looked stunning in a pale blue floral shirt dress from Self-Portrait, featuring a pussy-bow detail, which she paired with a matching headband and navy accessories. Her husband Michael, who will celebrate his 75th birthday on 23 June, wore a morning suit with pinstriped trousers and a pale blue waistcoat to complement Carole’s outfit.
The Middletons’ day at the races comes during a challenging year for the couple following the closure of their family business, Party Pieces, and daughter Kate’s cancer diagnosis. This was the first public appearance for Carole and Michael since last December when they attended the Princess of Wales’s Christmas carol concert at Westminster Abbey.
The couple have been providing support to their daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren as Kate undergoes preventative chemotherapy. Carole, who lives at Bucklebury Manor in Berkshire, was seen driving her daughter Kate through Windsor in March and spent the Easter holidays with the Wales family at their Norfolk home, Anmer Hall.
The businesswoman was also spotted during a casual outing at a local pub with Prince William while George, Charlotte, and Louis were on their school break.
