Queen Máxima looked stunning on Wednesday night as she attended an evening at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam alongside King Willem Alexander.
The 51-year-old royal was seen at the Diplomatic Corps dinner, wearing her splendid deep red Natan couture gown, which featured an unexpectedly slouchy asymmetric waistline, long sleeves, and a bateau neckline.
The satin number also boasted a floor-grazing skirt with a leg split up one side. The Queen accessorized the gown in the rich red tone with her stunning Ruby Peacock Tiara, matching earrings, and necklace.
The exquisite tiara dates back to 1897, created during the reign of Queen Wilhelmina. It features diamonds and rubies arranged to resemble a detachable centerpiece in the shape of a peacock feather.
According to The Court Jeweller, the tiara has a classically regal quality and was once in the possession of Princess Irene before being worn by her sister, Princess Beatrix, and now by Beatrix’s daughter-in-law, Máxima.
One of Queen Máxima’s early public appearances in the tiara was in 2012 when she and King Willem Alexander hosted a state banquet for President Halimah Yacob of Singapore. She also wore it in 2018 when they hosted President Mohamed Abdullah Alhabshee.
For the Diplomatic Corps dinner, Queen Máxima paired the tiara with a one-shouldered gown in sumptuous cherry red, accented with an oversized belt to cinch the waistline.
As if the royal parure wasn’t enough, the Argentinian-born Dutch queen complemented her outfit with Criss Cross Red Suede Sandals by Natan and an intricately beaded Maria Calderara bag.
For the occasion, Queen Máxima’s hair and makeup were especially elegant. Her blonde locks were swept off her face and styled in a low chignon with voluminous waves. Her makeup featured a refined look with a dramatic deep red lip and warm-toned smokey eyes.
